Jerry Pinkney's Caldecott winning "The Lion and the Mouse"

Recently, Edye and her two daughters travelled to the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA.  There, they revelled in a special exhibit, Witness:  The Art of Jerry Pinkney.  The retrospective covered this Caldecott-Award winning illustrator’s 50 year career.   On display was original artwork for The Lion and the Mouse, The Old African, and many other works chronicling the African-American experience, classic literature and much-love folktales.

Vicky reported that she recently sat next to Jerry Pinkney at a conference and was equally impressed by his powerful artwork and his warm personality.  So, if Western Massachusetts is calling to you, be sure to include a visit to see this exhibit before it closes May 30th.
